Super Mario Maker 2’s Zelda Update Lets You Play as Link

Nintendo announced that Link and the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda are coming to Super Mario Maker 2 on December 5. The Master Sword is a Power-Up only available in the Super Mario Bros. art style, and it transforms Mario into the green-clad hero from Hyrule.

The Power-Up isn’t just cosmetic, as it adds a number of Link’s classic moves into the Mario Maker mix. Link can fight enemies with his sword and block incoming attacks with his shield.

Link also has a dash attack that’s reminiscent of the Pegasus Boots, and a down thrust move that sends him straight to the ground. Additionally, he can use bombs and arrows to overcome obstacles.

Other Nintendo characters were previously playable in the original Super Mario Maker on Wii U, but they weren’t outfitted with a totally unique moveset like we’re seeing now with Link.
