EA FIFA Staff Accounts Hacked With Fake News In Response To Player Ban

Members of the FIFA Community Management team have had their social media accounts hacked, says EA, following the company’s decision to ban a content creator.

Last week Kurt Fenech (Kurt0411) was permanently disqualified by EA for uploading what the company termed “abusive, harassing, and vulgar” content including personal attacks on the development team and pro FIFA opponents. This week, official FIFA community managers’ accounts were used to tweet messages seemingly in support of Fenech.

These included a fake announcement revoking Fenech’s ban, and assertions that FIFA wouldn’t “go anywhere” as an esport without him. The accounts and tweets have since been deleted in order to prevent further security breaches.
