Overwatch Hero 27 Announced

After a series of teases, Blizzard has confirmed Overwatch Hero 27 is Brigitte Lindholm, who will be available on the PTR today.

Brigitte’s strengths lie in armor and defense, including her ability to throw repair packs and use her Flail, a melee weapon allowing her to hit a number of enemies with one swing. Her full list of abilities, along with their official descriptions, include:

  • Rocket Flail – Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.
  • Repair Pack – Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.

Far Cry 5: Clutch Nixon Stunt Mission Gameplay – IGN First

While times might be bleak in Hope County, Montana during the events of Far Cry 5, there’s a vein of lighthearted fun running throughout the world.

There’s no better example of that than the legend of Clutch Nixon, the ’60s and ’70s daredevil who performed impossible feats, usually half drunk, that cemented his place in Hope County lore for all time. Best of all, you’ll be able to recreate some of his heroic, and exceedingly dangerous stunts, by finding commemorative plaques throughout the world.

We’re happy to share one of those side missions today as part of our IGN First coverage of Far Cry 5. Suit up, put on your best ’70s ‘stache, and watch the story of the Spray and Pray run in the video above!

Mulaka Is A Tale About Tradition, Gratefulness, And Nature

You could probably mistake Lienzo’s Mulaka for yet another third person action adventure with a fresh and somewhat exotic coat of paint, but oh, how wrong you’d be. This is a game where its themes inform its design in all things big and small.

You’re the Sukurúame, a shaman trying to save the Sierra Tarahumara from destruction by mythical forces brought forth by constant conflict. In order to do that, you have to travel the lands and ask four demigods for assistance. With their help and the powers they bestow on you, you can save the Tarahumara people.

This is not just some story, it’s based on the actual culture and mythology of the Tarahumara, an indigenous people from Mexico. Lienzo worked closely with them to create Mulaka, and it shows. Sure, when you’re off adventuring you’ll be fighting giant beasts and exploring the Sierra, but in its quieter moments, the game paints a portrait of everyday life, steeped in peaceful rituals and oral tradition. All of this is portrayed in a colorful, low poly look which is simply a joy to behold.

By helping other people you earn “Kórima, the sierra’s thankfulness, the …read more

The New ‘Chrono Trigger’ Isn’t a Mobile Port, Everyone

Yesterday, something not entirely unusual happened. Square Enix, the company behind hit franchises like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts, put out a new release of one of their classic hits. This is something the company has done quite often in its history, with mixed results. Recently, the company has been trying to make versions of these classics that can serve as easily-ported baselines for other platforms as opposed to the platform-specific ports they used to create. A noble goal, but it makes that baseline all the more important to get right. This is especially the case when the port arrives on more advanced hardware, as anything ported from weaker hardware always gets an extra bit of scrutiny. Unfortunately, with most of these cases, Square Enix would have to work hard to do a worse job than they have.

Chrono Trigger is one of the most beloved RPGs in the history of video gaming. You don’t have to look very far to find a fan that would consider it the greatest RPG ever, and even those that don’t place it on such a high pedestal still don’t have a lot of bad things to say about it. For such a …read more

Horion Zero Dawn Is PS4’s ‘Most Successful New First-Party Franchise’

Since its release one year ago, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold over 7.6 million copies, and is the “most successful new first-party franchise” to launch on PlayStation 4.

“We are incredibly grateful that Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds have been received so positively by so many gamers,” said Shawn Layden, Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, “and it is a testament to the fantastic work of the entire team at Guerrilla.

“The combination of beautiful story-telling and great characters, with excellent gameplay mechanics, has resonated well with fans and led to this exceptional sales milestone.”

Other brand new, PS4-exclusive franchises have included Until Dawn, FromSoftware’s Bloodborne, The Order: 1886 and the long-awaited The Last Guardian (although maybe don’t hold your breath for a sequel to that one).
